The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) was an association established at Rome in 1562 for the purpose of providing religious education. Today CCD is known as Faith Formation and refers to a religious education program of the Catholic Church, designed for children. Students who attend public school receive their religious education through our Faith Formation ministry, which consists of class sessions and preparation for the reception of the sacraments. The goal of Faith Formation ministry is to enable and encourage the students to learn more about their faith. In 2020, our parish moved from a traditional model of catechesis to a family model of catechesis. To learn more about Family Catechesis, click the Fam Cat FAQ under Files and Forms below.
The Safe Environment Policy was created to take reasonable measures to assure that Church personnel who have regular contact with minors are committed to providing a safe environment for children and youth, are capable of identifying and preventing abuse of children, and have no personal history of behavior that would be a threat to children.
This policy applies to all Church personnel who have regular contact with minors. Church personnel is defined as all adult persons (those 18 years of age or older), whether clergy, members of consecrated life, or laity, who, as employees or volunteers, act in the name of the Church under the auspices of the Diocese of Pittsburgh or one of its parishes.
